THE BOARD CONNECTION
The following items were discussed at the June 15, 2010, Board meeting:
Manager’s Report: Property Manager, Rick DuFour reported on
- Status of investment accounts – Plan presented to redistribute funds to include new banks for a better return on investment was approved by the Board
- Delinquent accounts continue to be monitored closely
- Water billing will be transferred to new computer system
- Road work completed regarding patching, overlays, and speed bumps. Board was asked if a Professional Engineer had been contacted re: speed bumps. President said the Board had not done that. Resident presented an independent study by a Professional Engineer
- Rick clarified his understanding of the role of a Board of Directors
- Audit completed and reviewed by Manager. Final report by mid-June to Board
- Donated TV installed in weight room
- New office computers installed
- Accounting system transferred
- Insurance RFP’s mailed
- Weight limit signs installed at entrance to Cadillac. Frequent violators notified
Committee Reports:
- Entertainment Committee – tickets available for July 4th barbecue – need a volunteer to run the PA system
- Neighborhood Watch – more members needed – meeting 6/22 – 7PM – The Lodge – Sheriff’s Dept. hosting a meeting at Treasure Coast Mall for seniors on
Frauds and Scams – 6/30 – 9 & 11AM
Unfinished Business:
- Bocce Court Covers – still in progress
- Swales and Standing Water – getting bids for Pontiac
- Road Improvements – Bids for sealing – Board approved bid from DuraSeal – schedule street by street will be prepared – cannot be driven on from 24-48 hours – all schedules subject to rain
- Color Committee – Board approved color proposal submitted
- Payroll In-house – will be implemented 7/1
- Sheds – Board approved proposed rule change 7 – 1. Charles Whidden opposed
- Tree Trimming – Board approved bid from Ashem
New Business:
- Cleaning/Painting light poles – The Lodge – Discussion. Final motion passed 5 – 3. Fred Canfield, Charles Whidden, Norma Hammond opposed. Rick Dufour will get information from Steve Biglin re: cost of also painting the boxes. A special meeting may be called to review this cost
- Pennsylvania Avenue Turnover – County has taken control from Olds to end of road
Members Input:
- More umbrellas needed at Tennis Center pool – Rick Dufour said 4 will be purchased
- Tennis Center porch not clean – Rick Dufour said he would check into this
Next meeting – July 20 – 10AM – The Lodge
Benefit Committee – purpose now to help needy people in the area as opposed to migrants. Benefit Committee Dinner scheduled for 11/14/10.
Drainage-Thunderbird-complete
Co-Op Meeting with River Forest:
- River Forest responsible for half of Cadillac road repairs
- New landscaping company will trim foliage on berm
- Fountain – River Forest will not pay any portion of this
Electric Stove – Mr. Dorey will bring new stove with him when he returns
Color Committee – Rick Dufour will coordinate
Meeting with Sheriff’s Dept. – Statistics reviewed and Neighborhood Watch Program will begin in May.
Speed Bumps – now reviewing asphalt vs. rubberized
7th Edition – scope of project reduced to one-half and 96th St. entrance eliminated. Barbara Clark thanked those who attended Commission meeting.
Road Improvement – Accepted DuraSeal’s bid and allocated funds not to exceed $15,000 for the project
Grass over pavement on streets without Miami gutters - continuing review
Candidate Forum – Fred Canfield seeking volunteers to help coordinate hosting 3 County Commission candidates to speak on campaign issues
T-Shirts – available – approx. cost $7.00
Worker’s Compensation for Volunteers – under review
Property on corner of Cadillac & Monarch – awaiting signed permission from owner to proceed
New computers-office – Rick Dufour presented need for 2 new computers for office and a financial solution to offset major portion of expense. Approved by the Board with the stipulation both new computers include an external back-up for the quoted price.
Board Meetings are held the 3rd Tuesday of the month
